Summer Fun in Kemptville

Summer may be half over but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a lot of great days left to enjoy the season. Before we know it, the cooler weather will creep in so it’s important to get out and enjoy our community while you can. There are lots of great things to do in and around Kemptville so you don’t have to go far to enjoy the best of the season.

Rideau River Provincial Park

Whether you are looking to camp or just visit the beach, look no further than Rideau River Provincial Park. Conveniently located just outside of Kemptvill on Donnelly Drive, Rideau River is beautiful spot with a lot to offer. If you just want to cool off for the day, day use passes can be purchased for the beach which features a playground, picnic tables, and barbeques. The water is warm and clean while the beach is nice and sandy; it doesn’t get much better than this. If you are looking to extend your stay, the park also features camping options.

Kemptville Farmers’ Market

Open Sundays from 12pm to 4pm through October, the Kemptville Farmers’ Market has something for everyone. Located at 200 Sanders Street, the motto for this event is “Know your farmer, know your food”. They also have theme days throughout the summer so make sure to check their website often to see what they have going on. This farmers’ market featured locally grown or produced vegetables, fruit, beef, chicken, lamb, sausage, herbs, seedlings, chocolate, baked goods, bread, beverages, crepes, honey, Indian and Thai cuisine, maple products, preserves, arts & crafts and more!

Get Out on the Beautiful Rideau River

If you like to paddle, there are great opportunities in the area to get out on the water. Drifters Outdoors Canoe and Kayak Rentals offers both rentals and classes for canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards. All paddling and safety equipment is provided so get out there and enjoy!

Play Some Golf!

Kemptville has an award-winning golf course and any day is a great day for golf! eQuinelle Golf Club offers a beautiful course and all the amenities. If you are new to the game, they also offer lessons for both children and adults. Golf is a great game for almost anyone so get out and give it a try!
